GIRL CHILD NETWORK – ZIMBABWE

The Girl Child Network works closely with girls and children in rural areas, including victims of sexual abuse. They offer the support needed to keep girls in school. Since 1998, the Network has helped 20,000 girls, reinstating thousands of school dropouts. The Network also offers nutritional supplements locally cultivated. In addition, the Network raises awareness towards prevention and treatment including true life testimonies by people living with HIV. The Network trains people living with HIV on how to start and manage income-generating projects and in home-based care and support. It has created synergies with traditional leaders and churches in fighting stigma and harmful cultural notions that fuel the spread of HIV/AIDS.
